House cleanouts in Port Huron: what we see and how we work

Port Huron's housing is older than most of Metro Detroit. Much of the city, from the Blue Water Bridge down through the south side and west along Lapeer and 24th Street, is two-story frame homes built between the 1890s and the 1930s, on narrow lots with detached garages off alleys and basements that were never meant for storage but got used for it anyway. Along the lake in Fort Gratiot and down the river toward Marysville you have cottages, year-round lake homes and newer ranches with boats, trailers and fishing gear in the garage. Many of these homes are being settled by heirs who live hours away.

We clean out all of it: whole houses, basements and attics, garages, rentals near downtown and the college, and the storage that comes with lake living. We serve Port Huron ZIP code 48060 and the surrounding communities, Fort Gratiot, Marysville, Kimball and Burtchville. Because of the drive, we quote carefully from your photos, confirm the price at the house on a day that works for you, and bring the dumpster and the full crew together so the property is empty and swept when we leave. Travel is built into your one price.

Blue Water homes often hold real value: maritime antiques, tools, military items, collections built over generations. We are an estate sale company, so we look at your photos with that in mind. If a sale would pay you more than a cleanout costs, we will tell you and quote the sale. Boats and vehicles can go through our vehicle sales side instead of the dumpster. Otherwise you get one flat price, with the dumpster, hauling, labor and disposal all in it.

What we take

  • Furniture, mattresses, appliances and TVs
  • Boxes, clothing, books, dishes and decades of basement storage
  • Garage, shed and pole-barn contents, tools and scrap
  • Carpet, small demolition debris and yard junk
  • Whatever is left after an estate sale or a tenant leaves

What we cannot put in the dumpster

  • Hazardous waste, chemicals and liquid paint. We point you to the county household hazardous waste program
  • Propane tanks, fuel and car batteries
  • Asbestos and medical waste
  • Anything you want to keep: set it aside before we start

Not sure about something? Photograph it and ask. If the house turns out to be full of good stuff rather than junk, we will say so, because an estate sale can pay you instead of costing you.

How pricing works

One flat price, quoted from your photos

No hourly meter, no per-yard math and no surprise line items. Send wide shots of each room or space plus anything big or heavy, and Will or Casey call you back with a single price that covers the dumpster, the hauling, the labor and the disposal. We confirm it in person before any work starts, and once you sign, that is the price. It only changes if you add to the job, and we price the addition before we do it.

Questions from Port Huron families

Good to know

Do you serve Fort Gratiot and Marysville too?

Yes. Port Huron, Fort Gratiot, Marysville, Kimball, Burtchville and Lakeport are all routine, and we cover the rest of St. Clair County as well.

I live out of state. Can you handle the house without me?

Yes. Most Port Huron cleanouts we do are for heirs in another state. We quote from photos, confirm by phone and at the house with a lockbox or a neighbor's key, and send photos when it is empty.

Is the drive from Warren extra?

No. Travel is part of the one flat price. You see one number for the whole job before we start and that is what you pay.

There is a boat and a trailer in the garage. Junk or not?

Usually not junk. Photograph them with the rest and we will tell you whether they should be sold through our vehicle side or included in the cleanout.
